What Would You Give to Save the Life of a Friend?

Imagine...

riding in a car with a couple of friends. It's Friday afternoon and you're best friend who is driving is helping you plan the perfect weekend getaway. You're laughing and having a good time when out of nowhere another car comes along and side swipes you! Your friend is startled and loses control of the car. Everyone is screaming! The car skids off the road. Your friend struggles to regain control but can't. The car jumps a curb and keeps going until stopped by what seems like the biggest tree you've ever seen.

Everyone seems to be okay. But your best friend has a wound that just won't stop bleeding. Just as the paramedics arrive your best friend faints from the loss of blood. You begin to panic! This is your best friend in the whole entire world! You've been there for each other in the best and the worst of times.

Seeing how distraught you and the others are, one paramedic assures you that all your friend needs is some blood to replace what was lost. You begin to feel better. Seconds later, the paramedic informs you that they don't have any blood left. There has been a shortage in blood. But not enough people have taken the time to donate. You can feel your heart hit the bottom of your stomach. You and the other friends look at each other in shock.

You can't believe it!! You can't comprehend this. It's blood!! How can there not be any?! You think back and remember that there was a blood drive on-campus just last week. But you did not donate. You ask the others if they did. But none of you thought it was important enough at the time. But, surely others donated. So, why isn't there enough blood?

You look at your best friend's face. It's getting paler by the second. Oh, if someone had only given blood they could be saving my friend's life right now!
But like you, everyone else felt they were too busy to donate. They didn't think they had the time.

If SOMEONE had only taken time out to donate blood last week, perhaps YOUR B.F.F. would not be running out of time right now!
